How to write Learning Journal Reflection 2

Learning Journal Reflection
Date: December 20, 2016
1.      I learned about curriculum Evaluation and how to develop it, and also structure of Sri lanken[u2]  curriculum develop by local government.
2.      I studied tylers[u3] [u4]  model as a example for curriculum evaluation models.
3.      Stuffle beam[u5] , Bradley, Scriven, Stake and Eisner are other person of the curriculum model authors.
4.      I have to complete new home work about hidden curriculum in Sri Lankan schools.
5.      I remained about my curriculum design topic at the Informal discussion.

1.      I studied structure ofSrilankan[u7] curriculum design, development and evaluation. National education commission[u8] , national institute of education and ministry of education [u9] are conducted as an amalgamator of that triangulation process. Policy making body is national[u10] education[u11] commission[u12] . I think they are doing lot of works for Sri lankan[u13] education sector. Even some textbooks content are not good but national institute of education also doing more for the education development. But some political involved are generated systematic issues.
2.      I think Tylers[u14]  model are very useful evaluate curriculum strengths and weakness and also easy to apply and understand.Tyler’s
3.
4.      goal attainment model or sometimes called the objectives-centered model is the basis for most common models in curriculum design, development and evaluation. The Tyler model is comprised of four major parts. These are: 1) defining objectives of the learning experience; 2) identifying learning activities for meeting the defined objectives; 3) organizing the learning activities for attaining the defined objectives; and 4) evaluating and assessing the learning experiences. The Tyler Model begins by defining the objectives of the learning experience. These objectives must have relevancy to the field of study and to the overall curriculum (Keating, 2006). Tyler’s model obtains the curriculum objectives from three sources: 1) the student, 2) the society, and 3) the subject matter. When defining the objectives of a learning experience Tyler gives emphasis on the input of students, the community and the subject content. The second part of the Tyler’s model involves the identification of learning activities that will allow students to meet the defined objectives. To emphasis the importance of identifying learning activities that meets defined objectives, Tyler states that “the important thing is for students to discover content that is useful and meaningful to them” (Meek, 1993). In a way Tyler is a strong supporter of the student-centered approach to learning. Overall, Tyler’s model is designed to measure the degree to which pre-defined objectives and goals have been attained. In addition, the model focus primarily on the product rather than the process for achieving the goals and objectives of the curriculum. Therefore, Tyler’s model is product focused. It evaluates the degree to which the pre-defined goals and objectives have been attained.
5.      Informal discussion [u15] is very useful thing. That can be share knowledge and experience among group members.

1.      Develop new tentative central objective and calcified that is included source of student, society or subject.  Then can select relative learning experience and organized it. At the teaching and learning situation it can be test. And finally evaluate it. Time to time should be test because those objectives are valid or not valid.

My topic is photography. First I select tentative general objective and test it step by step concurrently
Example:
1.      Students will find meaning by analyzing, criticizing, and evaluating photography.
Objective 1:
Critique photography.
  1. Analyze photos regarding use of art elements and principles.
  2. Examine the functions of photography.
  3. Interpret photography.
Objective 2:
Evaluate photography.
  1. Analyze and compare photography using a variety of aesthetic approaches.
  2. Evaluate photography based on forming techniques, effective use of art elements and principles, fulfillment of functions, impact of content, expressive qualities, and aesthetic significance.Evaluate the impact of photography on life outside of school.
  3. Examine careers related to photography.
  4. Predict how photography can add quality to life and lifelong learning…….etc

This week actually very busy one foe[u19]  me. Past two days I did not read additional books or any other sources. I think should be manage and change my weekly timetable and other works.
